as is

Your headline is typical of a Bush-hater, so I stopped reading right then and there since I knew the what babbling I would end up reading if I continued. I guess once Bush lesves office, it will then be the next Republican to target?

Al Qaeda and their Waziristan allies repeatedly promise to kill Bhutto. These extremists try and fail using a baby wrapped in explosives. Then they try and fail using bombs strapped to a 15-year-old boy. Finally, they succeed and just to add to the senseless carnage they blow up a crowd of others at the rally.

And how do you react to their evil acts? Attack Bush of course. How very brave. In so doing, you spit on the bravery of women like Bhutto who had the fortitude to speak against Islamist terror. If Bhutto were an American saying those things, you probably would have mocked her as a neocon.

You people of the left really do not know who your enemies are. If it were truly Bush and his allies, you would be dead by now. I dare you to point out the barbarity of the islamists. Then let's see how long you last.

I think Bush doesnt have as strong a motive as Musharraf.
The Bush admin was trying to phase Musharraf out and replace him with Bhutto who would hopefully turn out to be as closely allied with the U.S. and its war on terror, while her leadership would also accomplish the difficult task of quietening all criticism of the US for supporting a dictatorship in Pakistan.

On the other hand, IF the administration just plans to invade Pakistan, 'secure' it and seize control of its nuclear arms in due time, then the assassination of Bhutto will create the perfect opportunity for that, as it plunges Pakistan into such instability that will 'justify' yet another invasion from the U.S. to save the world and its interests.

Could it be that the person who blew himself up was different than the people who targeted her? Afterall, how can a person riding a bike among thousands target two accurate shots?

I agree with this appraisal that Bush and his backed Musharraf government were BOTH greatly threatened by the propsect of Bhutto assuming power in Pakistan. It would undo the dictatorial control of a country mirroring the US. If Bhutto installed an open and transparent democratic process, Bush would have nowhere to take his policies in Pakistan. True democracy would take away power from Bush & Musharraf in Pakistan. Anyone who doesn't see this factor is nothing but an idiot. The dictatorial reach that the white house had through Musharraf was very valuable to Bush. We have not seen the last of the political assasinations that will assist Bush and his geo-political imperatives of unadulturated insanity. Bush is the consummate liar, power-grabber, and anti-democratic hyprocit who talks freedom & democracy, yet here at home routinely breaks serious laws and acts very much the dicator. Bush would have no problem crushing any innocent person in his way, at home or abroad. This is not written by a Bush hater, as much as it is written by a truth lover.
