Ode to Bailout
We present with gratitude the following poem for your consideration.
Submitted by a reader in Florida ... through out these grim times, we must keep our personal good cheer.
I’m afraid you’ve been bamboozled
It appears that you’ve been scammed
Poor Citizen, you’ve been taken in,
By the Big Bush Bailout Plan.
They told you it was urgent.
That things were pretty grim.
That Paulson was an expert.
That you could trust in him.
Despite his former leadership
of the Sachs and Goldman bank
That started the over-leveraging
That made the economy tank.
And Georgie-boy the President,
Who got us into war,
For a trillion dollars of National Debt.
Hey, what’s a trillion more?
So what if the money’s wasted?
So what if the bankers erred?
Credit’s tight as a snare drum
The investors all are scared.
Those poor unfortunate millionaires,
Those struggling CEO’s,
With thread-bare golden parachutes.
That’s where your money goes.
Your Senators are delighted.
Your Congressman is glad.
A quarter trillion in hog fat.
So how could that be bad?
And now the deal is over.
The money’s all but spent.
Take a look at your empty wallet.
Wonder where your money went.
But you can tell your children,
You were there when it all began.
The second American Depression,
And the Big Bush Bailout Plan.
